Travel Soccer
For the more serious player of the game we offer separate competitive teams in SJSL for boys and SJGSL for girls of select ages. Like the rec program the focus is on enjoying the game and player development, but the competition is more intense. Each team has a volunteer coach that has been licensed to coach soccer. Tryouts for our competitive teams may be held, existing teams may hold tryouts for open slots only or for entire team. Team availability in each age bracket is dependent on player registrations.
- Boys and Girls from ages U7 to age U18 are all invited to play on one of the Travel Teams in the Barrington Soccer Club.
- All players have to register within a team for each season (Fall and Spring).
- Registrations are done online.
- Teams are formed from open registrations or from try outs.
- Open registration is for players of all ages and abilities. These players will play on a Travel Team in September through the middle of November for the Fall Season and/or March through May for the Spring Season. Fees vary based on age brackets.
- Open registration generally takes place during May and June for Fall and December thru January for Spring. After that time, registrations are accepted only on a space available basis and may incur a late fee.
- Registering for a Travel teams does not necessarily guarantee placement on a Travel Team.
- When Tryouts for teams are required; acceptance will be based on coaches and evaluators assessment.
Some things to know about the Travel Program:
- A player’s soccer age depends upon the player’s age on August 1st of each year.
- Ages in soccer are shown as "U-age", that is, a player and team are under that age. For example, a player who is ten years old on July 31st would play U-11 this fall.
- New players are required to submit proof of their date of birth. Acceptable documents include a state issued birth certificate.
